It's Night. Time to practice.

Incremental Progress.
Intentional Living.

Most productivity apps just track streaks. Gradualist is fundamentally different. We help you build capabilities through intelligent, staged progression. No noise, just focus.

Break the Streak Mentality

Traditional habit trackers treat every day the same. You either do the task, or break your 100-day streak.

This creates anxiety, not capability. A real skill (like meditation, physical training, or reading) isn't binary. It compounds gradually.

The Gradualist Approach: Instead of endless repetitive tasks, you engage in Practices. A practice is broken down into structured Stages. You don't try to read 50 pages a day immediately; you begin at Stage 1, master the foundation, and structurally evolve to Stage Final. If you miss a day, you don't lose your progress—you resume your stage.

Five Practice Types

Pick whichever matches your goal — every practice follows one of these patterns.

Each practice type is a structural engine that defines how your habit grows over time. Build your own from scratch, or start from our curated library of templates and tweak them to fit.

Target

Build a Target

Track a single metric that grows each stage to safely build capacity.

Example: Meditation scaling from 15 min → 20 min → 25 min
Sequence

Learn a Sequence

Break a list of items into expanding chunks and master each chunk until it sticks.

Example: Memorizing a speech (lines 1–3, then 1–6, then 1–10)
Streak

Build a Streak

The simplest practice. No targets, no sequences — just showing up consistently.

Example: Morning journaling 5 days a week
Rotate

Rotate Workouts

Cycle through themed days. Every target inside grows by the same percentage after each full rotation — one uniform growth rule for the whole routine.

Example: Push → Pull → Legs, with every weight bumping +5 % per cycle
Combine

Combine Practices

A recursive builder for routines that don't grow at one rate. Nest multiple practice types inside one parent — each keeps its own type, targets, and growth rule.

Example: Triathlon prep — swim target + bike target + run streak, each evolving independently

Tactile Interaction

Feel your progress as you build it.

Gradualist introduces a novel Hold-to-Log gesture replacing basic checkboxes. As you hold down on a practice, a satisfying haptic wave builds progressively, matching the visual fill of the underlying fluid animation.

This unbroken tactile experience transforms logging from a chore into a rewarding micro-interaction, perfectly aligned with the philosophy of gradual growth.

Compound interest applies to capabilities too. Try the structured path.
